Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No - you can book directly. A GP referral is only needed if you are claiming under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan or through DVA - both are accepted.
Will I have to have an internal examination?
No. An internal pelvic floor assessment can be the most accurate way to assess your pelvic floor, but it is always optional - offered only when relevant, fully explained, and done only with your consent. There are useful alternatives, including real-time ultrasound.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in. If we are assessing movement or exercise, activewear is ideal.
Can I come during my period?
Yes - appointments can go ahead at any time in your cycle. If you would prefer to postpone an internal assessment, we simply adjust the plan.
Can I bring my baby?
Yes - babies are very welcome. Older children can be harder to accommodate during a consultation, so if you need to bring them, get in touch first and we'll find a time that works.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your symptoms and goals. After your first appointment you will have a clear plan, including how many sessions I expect you to need and how we will measure progress.
Can I claim through private health insurance?
Yes - physiotherapy is claimable with most extras cover, and you can claim on the spot with HICAPS.
How much does it cost?
Fees vary slightly between locations - you will see the current fee when you book online for your chosen clinic.
